24 drivers of 6 teams, their families and other persons concerned participated in Indy 40 Enduro this year and enjoyed staying at Langkawi. It has been International race listed in CIK calendar since this year and the rules have been changed a lot. The ceremony was such an impressive because a prime minister, Dr. Mahathir encouraged every driver before the final started. Danilo Rossi, a world champion was invited and performed as a Presenter at awarding ceremony.
Malaysia's passion for motorsports is getting higher level among Asian countries as we can see that they have F1 Grand Prix. The environment for kart also is great and the drivers can drive faster year by year. They may be expected to win Indy 40 Enduro next year. |

| The Indy 40 Enduro 2000, the first for this millennium, is a good time for us to reflect on the philosophy behind this event. The series for endurance kart race was first launched in 1997, in conjunction with MalaysiaÕs 40th year of independence. The qualities required from the drivers to win this event namely, strong spirit, determination, strength of mind, tolerance and |
|
@teamwork are those very same qualities which brought Malaysia to its present stage of success. It was in recognition of MalaysiaÕs unique formula of success that CRG Group of Italy in 1997 presented to the people of Malaysia a challenge trophy in commemoration of our 40th year of independence.@I am therefore pleased to see the event being held again this year. It is my hope that the Indy 40 Enduro series will be kept alive in years to come, being a reminder of those important qualities we as a nation must possess.
Langkawi, the traditional venue for the Indy 40 event, has been designated by the Government as a priority area for tourism growth. We invite the participants to take some time off and enjoy the hospitality and beauty of the island, as well as inform your family and friends back home of the charms of Langkawi.
We also wish to invite you back next year to this legendary island for the World Finals of the Rotax Max Challenge 2001. Having been given the honor to host this world-class karting carnival, we hope you will return to enjoy the racing, and participate in festival of karts next December 2001.
Finally, my congratulations to Mofaz Motorsports, Langkawi Development Authority and the Langkawi Motorsports Club for once again keeping the spirit alive.
Dr. Mahathir Bin Mohamad@Aug.3,2000

Both drivers and mechanics were very busy with deciding kart by lot Friday evening. The weight limit has been strict from this year. Deciding kart by lot had been done at the paddock at kart course last year, but it was done at each warehouse at the airport where is located near the hotels this year. Each team could take time to set up as much as possible.
Participants from Japan were FCS, who was in the first place last year, KiKi, who was in the second place last year, TRENTA QUATRO, La Maree, and two new teams, Spirit and Kartist.
|
Team Kartist, who set kart in good condition Saturday morning, had to do medical check and was not able to participate in the race unfortunately. Japanese teams did not do well on the official practice and the preliminary.
The best start position of final was |
|
KiKiÕs fourth place. However, they did good job on the official practice in the afternoon at final.he pole position at final was MORAC UK, who was the expected winner this year. T The second position was SAJIBUMI YOUNG GUNS who was composed of juniors and got third place last year,
4 hours endure race was started beautifully except the trouble of KiKi team who was late due to the engine at the beginning. MORAC UK maintained to be the top. Japanese team, FCS was following MORAC UK. Although team GP3 suffered from adjusting engines in the preliminary, |
|
they were in the upper place in the final maybe because they got advice from Danilo Rossi. KiKi made up for the late at the beginning and was in the upper place gradually.
At the latter stage, each team started having troubles. As for MORAC UK, who was in the first place, the chain came off and they had to give the first place to other team in two laps. KiKi, |
who was in the fourth place had chain problem, too. After finishing the last pit stop, the first place was GP3, the second place was FCS, the third place was KiKi, and the fourth place was Hong Kong1. FCSÕs Mr. Kobayakawa started attacking the top teams in last 10 minutes and finally they got the first place and won the race two years continuously. However, after the race, one person out of four persons was disqualified from the weight measure. Their winning was just a vision.

On behalf of the organizing committee, I would like to express my heartiest gratitude and appreciation to our Patron, the honorable Prime Minister of Malaysia for his endless support to this event. A special thanks to all participants, sponsors, government agencies, Langkawi Motorsport Club and all other parties involved in this 3rd Indy 40 Enduro for their participation and support.
Being the only endurance event in Malaysia and the first in this region, this annual event has grown to what we can be seen today. This event is well recognized by karters from Japan, Europe, and Asia, and this year it has been listed in the CIK calendar.
The Indy 40 Enduro was started in 1997 when the idea to create this event was mooted to expand the local go-kart activity and also as an event to celebrate the 40th independence of Malaysia. Ever since its introduction, together with Asean Kart Prix, it has served as a catalyst to spark the local interest towards go-karting and other motorsport activities.
Through it various branch of activities, the motorsport industry in Malaysia has grown to a level where it has become a model to other countries. The go-karting alone has crated many local talents which in many cases won many of the international go-karting events. I am confidence that the Malaysian story of achievement would continue to be admired. I hope that the Indy 40 Enduro this year would be more successful, and with the continuous support from the motorsport community, this event would one day become the success story in the go-karting history.
As for those competing, I wish all the participants success in their endeavors and hopefully we would meet again in the forthcoming event.
